Ariel Winton Joins True’s Investment Team
By Jon Callaghan and Phil Black, March 24, 2021
While our team has been growing in leaps and bounds lately, we still function internally as a small firm. We know the names of each other’s kids, partners, and pets. And we listen closely when one of our team members insists there’s someone we just have to meet.
Our newest team member, Ariel Winton, is one of those people. She’s joined our investment team as a principal versed strongly in software companies. Toni Schneider and Priscilla Tyler initially connected with her and felt an instant “click” in terms of her alignment with True’s values of investing with integrity and partnering with founders taking on big, bold ideas. Once we started talking to founders who had worked with Ariel in the past, it became clear that she shares our belief in prioritizing the people behind the ideas and doing everything possible to support them both personally and professionally.
Ariel started her career in product management at sales productivity startup Yesware, where she gained an intimate understanding of the founder journey and what it takes to build a company from the ground up. At Boston-based venture capital firm OpenView, she invested in product-led software companies and partnered with their teams to help put the people and processes in place to scale.
Ariel has great experience working with founders across the software ecosystem. But what really stood out to us is her curiosity, team ethic, and desire to help founders succeed, whether she’s helped to fund them or not. She is a “connector” and a catalyst. Since she joined us (under the radar until now), we’ve received so many unsolicited congratulations. It’s been very reaffirming that Ariel is in sync with who we are as a team and what we want even more of.
Ariel, welcome to True! We’re so happy to have you join us.
