Mikaela Lipsky
Mikaela joined True as an associate in 2023 following a summer of work as a product manager with portfolio company Hatch through the True Ventures Fellowship. The fellowship gave her a deep introduction to the startup and venture capital ecosystem, sparking her curiosity for a career in VC.
Previously, she was a research assistant for the University of Washington’s Department of Public Health where she used what she was learning around integrated sciences in undergrad to inform public health education and empower health care workers with leadership skills. Additionally, she was a business operations intern for fast-casual restaurant chain Sweetgreen.
Mikaela graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science management from Claremont McKenna College where she was on the women’s track and field team. During her four years at Claremont, she was a fellow for the Randall Lewis Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which coaches students on how to be thoughtful business leaders.
Mikaela’s senior thesis presented research around how environmental degradation resulting from mountaintop removal mining accelerated and contributed to the U.S. opioid epidemic – an example of the prominence and importance of the intersection of science and economics.
Originally from Seattle, Mikaela recently hiked Mount St. Helens. She once went cage diving in search of great white sharks in South Africa, emboldening her love for marine life. Her favorite dish? A Vietnamese vermicelli bowl.
