True portfolio company TripleLift announced their funding this week, and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome the dynamic team of Eric BerryShaun Zacharia and Ari Lewine to True. Based in New York City, Eric, Shaun and Ari previously worked together at AppNexus, an advertising technology company, and built TripleLift to help brands optimize the three aspects of media—owned, earned and paid (giving them a “triple lift”).

TripleLift is an incredibly innovative advertising solution for the visual web. The company finds images from across the web to discover when and how consumers engage with a brand’s visual content. Using image recognition technology, TripleLift can identify a brand’s most compelling visual content based on what consumers are looking at, engaging with and sharing. With this data, they can create content-driven ad experiences that drive higher brand lift and earned media than traditional display advertising.

Brands are spending incredible amounts of money producing beautiful images for online marketing. Multiple brands will spend upwards of $1 million for a photo shoot that will result in 10 photos. Even the smallest startup brands will spend upwards of $100,000 for photos of their catalog so they’re able to compete with the major players. Previously, these brands had no way to track their images or understand how consumers ended with their content online. TripleLift not only solves this problem for brands, but also helps them use that information effectively.
