In May 2013, Pradeep Elankumaran, Founder of Kicksend and an enormously dedicated member of the True Founder community, introduced us to a new startup called Screenhero, which was rethinking collaboration and real-time sharing from the ground up. Screenhero was born out of the needs of four developers: J Sherwani, Vishal Kapur, Jason DiCioccio and Faraz Khan, who wanted to work with each other remotely but quickly realized the existing tools for real-time connection were meant for presentation, not collaboration. So, they used their collective experience building iTeleport, a top-selling remote desktop app for iOS and Mac, and built Screenhero from scratch.

True led Screenhero’s Series A round that spring, and it has been a pleasure to watch J, Vishal, Jason and Faraz develop a beautiful product with incredible technology, as well as a super nimble and scrappy company. Most importantly, this team impressed us with their values and authenticity—J and his team are good people as well as good entrepreneurs.

Today, Screenhero announced that they have been acquired by Slack, and we couldn’t be happier about this outcome for the team. True is a big fan of Slack, and our entire team has become heavy users and big believers in the technology. This is a great partnership from all angles, and we look forward to seeing how the Slack and Screenhero technologies integrate in the very near future.

J, Vishal, Jason, Faraz and the entire Screenhero team: Congratulations!
