Welcoming Shruti!

We are very pleased to announce a new member of the True Ventures team: Shruti Gandhi. Shruti has recently joined us as an investor and will be an integral part of the True investment team, focusing on our core investment areas of connected devices, infrastructure services, media, enterprise software and mobile.

We first met Shruti about three years ago when a group of students from the Chicago Booth School of Business (where Shruti earned her MBA) visited True Ventures as part of an introduction to venture investing. Shruti was a dynamic and engaging young professional, and we kept in touch as she began her investing career. Recently, our aspirations aligned: Shruti, who is passionate about the areas of security, Internet of Things and mobile, was ready for a new adventure, and we had recently closed our fourth fund. The timing was perfect for Shruti to join our team, building upon her past success and interests.

Previously, Shruti was a tech investor at Samsung Electronics, where she led and sourced investments in several companies—Engrade (acquired by McGraw Hill Education), LearnSprout, Agnitus and Zimperium. Shruti has also worked in the venture investing space at Lightbank, HighBAR Partners and the i2A Fund, where she participated in investments in Vyatta (acquired by Brocade). Shruti started her career as an engineer on collaboration tools at IBM, and worked on an incubator and a Think Tank/Do Tank for IBM’s Chairman & CEO, Sam Palmisano’s, office. Shruti was also the Founder of Penseev, a platform for using historical social network data to create a digital, visual timeline of your life.

In her free time, Shruti volunteers for the Silicon Valley chapter of TiE, a not-for-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, where she co-chairs TiE’s Mobility Track. Acting on a lifelong passion for helping the advancement of women in engineering and finance, Shruti helped start TiE’s Women’s Forum in 2013. Shruti is a 2012 graduate of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She earned an MS in Computer Science from Columbia University and a BS in Computer Science from Marist College.
