We talk a lot at True about how we can support and empower entrepreneurs to build the best businesses possible. But more than just talking about it, we actively channel this passion into what we call our Founder Platform—a series of initiatives (and really a way of thinking) designed specifically to educate, inspire and support True portfolio founders and the teams they create. Our initiatives range from tools like our dedicated email list that facilitates lightening-fast, trusted collaboration, to True University, a two-day “startup school” to help develop the talent within each company. With each new program, our goal is to respond to what our customers—our portfolio founders—need most in order to build companies of lasting value.

Over the past years, True has funded close to 40 companies that leverage next-generation enterprise sales models. As these models are evolving incredibly quickly, collaboration among our enterprise portfolio has fundamentally enhanced the success of the entire group. And our founders made it clear to us that an inside sales resource would be a game-changer for their businesses.

At True, we believe that adding people (not dollars) is the most powerful way to build value and solve problems. Last year we welcomed Kenny Van Zant to True as a Special Advisor. His expertise on new product, sales, marketing and revenue models for enterprise software has been incredibly valuable to our team. And in February of this year, we welcomed Jim Stewart to the True team as Chief Financial Officer. Jim brings a wealth of operating and financial experience to True, and he knows scale, having built multiple companies from startup, to, and through IPO.

Today, we are extremely excited to announce the addition of Lars Nilsson to the True Ventures team. Lars will be working as an Inside Sales Advisor to our portfolio and brings an incredible wealth of sales and operating experience. Most recently, he was VP of Field Operations at ArcSight (sold to HP for $1.5 billion), where he built the inside sales team from the ground up. He held similar roles in three other software companies and brings tremendous expertise in scaling from startup to large company. Lars is also an expert and pioneer in the use of CRM automation, implementation of inside sales processes, and integration of Sales 2.0 technologies to improve selling efficiency.

As more and more True companies achieve high levels of scale and success, our objective is to provide our founders with world-class resources to scale the financial side of their businesses.

We feel very strongly that high-velocity sales is the wave of the future and how the next great enterprise software companies will be built. We are thrilled to have Lars join the True team. Welcome Lars!
