It’s our pleasure to welcome Flint Mobile—the dongle- and hardware-free way to accept credit card payments—to the True Ventures portfolio. Flint launched earlier this month and was named “Best Mobile App” of Finovate Spring Day 2 by Bank Technology News. It’s a fitting award for an app that is leading the wave of disruption in mobile payments, providing on-the-go merchants and service providers an easy and secure way to process payments from virtually anywhere.

The magic of Flint is in its relative simplicity and ease of use. With Flint, merchants can process credit and debit card payments by capturing a customer’s card number using the camera on their mobile phone. The app translates that image into a digitized number, and customers complete the transaction by signing on the screen of the phone. Customers receive an emailed receipt and have the option to recommend the vendor via social media. So, Flint meets customer and vendor needs as a mobile payment platform, but also serves as a springboard to social media marketing.

As the world becomes increasingly mobile—and merchants and service providers become less constrained by brick-and-mortar stores—we get excited about entrepreneurs who are continuously innovating to create mobile-centric experiences. Flint co-Founder and CEO Greg Goldfarb has brought on a world-class crew with with deep experience in payments and imaging, which becomes clear when you use their app. We are thrilled to be joining our friends at Storm Ventures to support Greg and his team. Welcome, Flint, to True!
