Consumers are increasingly taking greater ownership of their health – a huge opportunity for startup founders and new innovations they can drive. We’ve seen the acceleration of this trend through our investments in companies like Fitbit (now part of Google), Headspace, and Pendulum Therapeutics. And we think this trend will continue to accelerate with better access to personalized information and more effective products for end users.

While more and more individuals are participating in this movement, they haven’t had their own home on the internet yet – rather have been finding one another in subreddits or the comment section of content by health leaders online. With SuppCo, Steve Martocci , Nick Michlewicz, and their team are building the home for this movement – starting with a consumer app for building, optimizing, and sharing your nutritional supplement stack. With Steve’s previous company, music production software company Splice, we were the first investors (alongside Union Square Ventures) and supported the company through each round of financing.

At True, while we think there is an infinite (and infinitely growing) design space for new business ideas, we also think there are a finite number of great founders. So when we find them, we want to back them for the entirety of their careers. (Steve is now the 38th founder we’ve backed twice.)

We’re beyond excited to work with Steve and team again, and to be investors at the inception of SuppCo alongside USV, Compound VC, and Box Group. Check out my supplement stack here (featuring Pendulum’s Glucose Control and Paul Stamets’ Stamets 7 immune support supplement, both from companies from the True Portfolio).
