Welcoming Amy Errett to the True Team
By Jon Callaghan, June 17, 2013
In April, we announced our investment in Madison Color (now renamed Madison Reed). Madison Reed is revolutionizing every aspect of the home hair care experience by producing superior professional grade products, free of ammonia and other harmful chemicals, that are healthier for hair and that will be delivered directly to customers’ homes and offices. They are also developing an entirely new discovery, engagement and application experience through customer-centric, multi-platform technology innovations, including web, mobile, tablet, social and content.
Today, I am thrilled to announce that the Founder of Madison Reed, Amy Errett, has joined True Ventures as a Special Advisor. With a multifaceted career that has ranged from founding Spectrem Group and selling it to IPG, senior management at E*Trade, CEO of lifestyle company Olivia (where she was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Northern California), to General Partner at venture capital firm Maveron, Amy Errett has excelled at every turn.
Amy is a born leader, both of people and of entire industries. She has vision, and an uncanny ability to recognize the movements behind huge industry changes, which was her experience at both E*Trade and Olivia. She is a master of “product,” and at Madison Reed is endeavoring to build a product that will capture the world’s imagination and make life better for her customers. Amy is intensely curious and also a caring and empathetic soul. During her time at Maveron, she funded and worked closely with the founders of General Assembly, and she remains on the board of Say Media and Lemon.com. Amy also chairs the board at Glide, a $20 million nonprofit in San Francisco that serves that the largest set of social service programs in the city. Amy has led startups and many teams to greatness, which makes her an incredibly valuable partner to the 250 remarkable Founders at True.
I’m personally extremely excited to bring Amy closer to the True family. Both Toni Schneider and I have gotten to know Amy well through our mutual participation in the Young Presidents’ Organization, a global network of young chief executives. Amy has that special quality that makes her a “True” kind of person. She also has boundless energy—a self-described horseback-riding, fly-fishing, black diamond-snowboarding, wine-collecting, SF Giants-loving Californian. She is a remarkable partner, supporter of entrepreneurship and believer in the greatness of people. We are thrilled to have her join our mission of making the world a better place for entrepreneurs.
Amy joins our hugely talented team of True Special Advisors, including Kenny Van Zant, Lars Nilsson and Raanan Bar-Cohen. Amy, welcome to the team! It’s going to be a fantastic partnership.
