We Are Now Accepting Applications for TEC 2011

We are happy to announce that we are now accepting applications for TEC 2011. TEC (The True Entrepreneur Corps) is an internship program that matches rising juniors and seniors in college with companies in the True Ventures portfolio to help them learn what working at a startup is all about. At True, we are strong believers in supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem above and beyond the companies in which we have invested. TEC is an important part of that effort, and we are excited to reach out to college students, the founders of the future, to provide them a unique and rewarding introduction to startup life.

This will be the third summer that we have run TEC.  As we have written previously, the work of previous participants has exceeded our expectations in each of the past two summers. All come to TEC interested in technology; some leave at the end of the summer already formulating plans for businesses of their own. It has been a great process for us to be a part of, and companies in our portfolio have very much appreciated the eager and enthusiastic help of these students for the summer—and sometimes beyond.

As detailed on the application page, we have begun accepting applications on a rolling admission basis and are looking forward to receiving applications from students with many different majors, interests, and educational backgrounds. There are no prerequisites for inclusion in the program besides a strong interest in entrepreneurship, an enthusiasm to learn more about early stage technology, and a willingness to spend eight weeks working hard on projects that have a real impact for companies in our portfolio. In post-program debriefs, the TEC interns have all said that the combination of work for their respective companies and the Thursday TEC curriculum kept them busier than they had ever expected to be. But, they wouldn’t have had it any other way. Nor would we.

We have designed TEC to be an awesome platform for students to explore and learn more about early stage technology, the entrepreneurial process, and the venture capital cycle.
