The rumors are true: AOL has indeed acquired consumer gadget review site (and True portfolio company) gdgt.

gdgt is a phenomenal fit for AOL, which has been steadily upping its content game since acquiring Engadget, TechCrunch and The Huffington Post. gdgt Co-Founders Peter Rojas and Ryan Block were the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief (respectively) of Engadget, so it’s a perfect move to bring their talents and street cred back into the AOL fold.

Peter and Ryan are truly amazing Founders, and it has been a privilege to work with them; they are tenacious, patient, loyal entrepreneurs who see the bigger picture of partnership. Since True invested in gdgt, we have seen Peter and Ryan experience the normal ups and downs of a startup, but very few Founders have the sheer depth of determination that they and their team demonstrated at every turn while building gdgt. Their consistent and continued decisions to do the right thing (by their employees, investors and customers) made me immensely proud to be a part of their team.

Congratulations to both AOL and the gdgt team on this exciting new partnership.
