Academia.edu launches real-time analytics dashboard
By True Ventures, August 15, 2012
True portfolio company Academia.edu, a platform for academics to share and follow research, announced today a new Analytics Dashboard that allows researchers to track in real-time the number of people viewing a research document, what country they are from, and how they found the research. Already breaking new ground by allowing academics to publish and review research online, Academia.edu is now—for the first time in the history of scientific research—empowering academics to see how their research is being consumed and moved forward as soon as it has been published. As Academia.edu Founder Richard Price explains it:
“A big trend right now in science is that scientific content is moving from having been historically in paper form to now being created natively for the web. One key advantage of the web is that it speeds up the distribution of scientific ideas. Over the last few years, as scientists have increasingly taken to sharing their research on the web, there has been no way for them to measure the impact of their online influence.”

Congratulations to Richard and the Academia.edu team!
