TEC Application

Program Eligibility

2019 TEC Fellows must be members of the undergraduate classes of 2020 or 2021 and be eligible to work without sponsorship in the United States. Students with all majors and educational interests are encouraged to apply. We do not accept applications from students who are graduating in the spring of 2019 or who are currently enrolled in graduate programs. Participants will receive a stipend of $11,000.

Application Timetable

We will accept applications for TEC 2019 on a rolling basis from October 15, 2018, to January 15, 2019.

We encourage all applicants to submit their applications as early as possible, as it has often been the case that most, if not all, of the year’s class has been filled prior to the application deadline. That said, until we post here indicating that there are no remaining spots, you may assume that the class has not been filled and thus we are still accepting applications. Applicants will receive a response no more than three weeks after their completed application is received.

TEC Application Checklist

In order to be considered for TEC 2019, applicants must prepare/submit the following items:

1. A resume (one page)
2. A one-page personal statement (see below)
3. Two letters of recommendation (one page each)
4. Our online application
5. An original one-minute video supporting your interest in our program

All items must be submitted in order for an application to be considered.

Resume and Personal Statement

In your personal statement, please tell us why you are interested in being a TEC Fellow. What is your background in technology and what specific skills could you bring to a startup? How might your experiences this summer fit into your plans for employment after graduation?

If it is possible to provide examples of your work online (web applications you’ve created, projects you have contributed to, a personal blog you maintain, etc.), please include links as appropriate.

Letters of Recommendation

One-page letters of recommendation from two different people must be submitted on your behalf as soon as possible and no later than January 15, 2019. These letters should be completed by those with whom you have or have had an academic and/or a professional relationship; i.e., professors or supervisors/employers. Please do not secure recommendations from family members, peers or friends. Your application will not be considered until we receive both letters of recommendation. All recommendations should be emailed (PDF format) to tec [at] trueventures [dot] com.
