In 2009, we started True Entrepreneur Corps, a Fellowship program to introduce bright, creative, enterprising undergraduates from across the country to the entrepreneurial experience. Our TEC Fellows spend the summer interning with one of our portfolio companies for four days a week learning the ins and outs of working at a startup, and then join us at True for one day of pure venture capital immersion with Founders and venture capitalists.

We started TEC because we believe in making the world a better place for entrepreneurs, and part of that mission involves encouraging the smartest, most driven, most visionary people to found, join or support startups. One of the many unintended benefits of this is that we have had the privilege of meeting some of the most talented young people in the country when they are just beginning their careers. And as True continues to grow, we have committed to living our mission internally by investing in a few promising TEC Fellows who have blown us away with their curiosity, smarts and spirit.

Adam D’Augelli was a member of the inaugural TEC class of 2009 and joined True full-time in 2010. Adam has become an invaluable member of our team, and was recently promoted to Senior Associate. Today, I am so pleased to announce two new TEC alumni who will follow in Adam’s footsteps. Members of the TEC class of 2012, Keila Fong and Ramsey Chapin have officially joined True Ventures as Analysts.

Keila was a standout Fellow amongst her TEC peers. Then studying computer science at Yale, Keila impressed us with her top-notch writing, her maturity and her strong views on the role of women in entrepreneurship. As a TEC fellow, Keila worked on product at True portfolio company Nodeable (acquired by Appcelerator), and previously worked in several robotics research labs and as a front-end developer. In her free time, Keila is a DJ and an avid television watcher and is (in her own words) “fighting the losing battle of reading all of the interesting articles on the Internet.”

Ramsey is hard to miss. At over 6’6”, Ramsey fills up the room with expansive energy and enthusiasm—it’s contagious. Ramsey grew up around small business, where he learned financing, acquisitions and operations of multifamily housing. He combines that experience with the discipline he honed as a varsity middle distance runner at Stanford. During his TEC Fellowship, Ramsey worked as a Marketing Analyst at Piston Cloud Computing, an exciting OpenStack private cloud provider. Outside the office, Ramsey can be found running or playing most any sport (real or made-up); improving his Spanish, Portuguese and coding languages; or reading The Economist on the Caltrain.
