Tony Conrad

Tony-Conrad

Tony is a Partner at True and Co-Founder & CEO of about.me (acquired by AOL in 2010). Prior to about.me, Tony co-founded Sphere (acquired by AOL in 2008) with Toni Schneider. Tony is a board member of the Tony Hawk Foundation, an advisor to SF-based Noise Pop and a T40 National Co-Chair of Technology for Obama.

Early in his career, Tony spent nine years abroad (India, France and Indonesia) with Groupe Danone, focusing on brand extension opportunities through mergers and acquisitions in Southeast Asia. He then joined VSP as a general partner, where he played an active role managing investments in Post Communications (NASDAQ: NTVS), Oddpost (acquired by Yahoo!) and Stonyfield Farms (acquired by Groupe Danone).

Tony grew up in a small Indiana farming community. He's worked a lot of jobs not listed on his resume, including short stints as a baseball umpire, basketball camp counselor, pharmacy stock person, high school sports reporter, book bindery glue machine operator, janitor, college newspaper ad salesman and yogurt merchandiser, to name a few. When he is not seeking out new opportunities for investment, you can find him communicating en français, making drip coffee, traveling or getting lucky with his enviable good parking karma. He holds a BS in telecommunications, with a minor in business, from Indiana University.
